Chris Witherspoon Suspected of DUI in Fatal Crash in Carmel-By-The-Sea

 
CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA, CA (May 9, 2023) – Officers arrested 25-year-old Chris Witherspoon of Hope Mills, NC following a fatal crash on Highway 1 on May 7.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Highway 68 around 3:45 AM. Based on a report, Witherspoon was driving a Toyota Camry going northbound in the southbound lanes of the highway prior to the crash.
 
Subsequently, he collided into a Mitsubishi head-on.
 
As a result, the driver of the Mitsubishi, a 69-year-old man from Seaside, died at the scene. Officials did not yet release his name yet.
 
CHP arrested and took Witherspoon to Monterey County Jail for DUI.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
