Charles Martin Fatally Injured in Springdale Car Accident
SPOKANE, WA (August 29, 2023) — A 43-year-old Spokane man identified as Charles Martin died in a three-car crash on Highway 231 on Friday, August 18.
According to a Washington State Patrol, Martin drove south on Highway 231 at about 11:00 p.m., just 4 miles south of Springdale. At the same time, two other drivers traveled northbound on the highway.
Then Martin crossed the center line and sideswiped one vehicle. After that, he crashed head-on into another vehicle in the northbound lane.
Emergency responders pronounced Martin dead at the scene. He did not wear a seat belt, official reports said.
The other two drivers were not hurt. They both had their seat belts on when the crash occurred.
WSP said drugs or alcohol did not contribute as a factor in the crash.
