Catalina De Torres and Arturo Gomez Killed, Pedro Rosas and Jesus Arrellano Injured in Kings County Car Crash

Husband and Wife Identified in Fatal Crash on Laurel Avenue at Avenal Cutoff in Kings County

KINGS COUNTY, CA (June 6, 2023) – Officers identified Catalina De Torres and Arturo Gomez who died in a crash on Laurel Avenue on May 30.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around noon at Avenal Cutoff Road. Based on a report, the couple who were both 67-years-old were passengers in a 2014 Honda that was traveling near the intersection prior to the crash.

At the same time, 50-year-old Pedro Rosas of Huron attempted a southbound turn from Laurel onto Avenal. Due to unknown reasons, he drove into the path of the Honda and caused a crash.

As a result, De Torres and Gomez suffered grave injuries and died in the incident.

The driver of the Honda, 28-year-old Jesus Arrellano of Avenal, suffered unknown injuries. Crews took him to Adventist Medical Center in Hanford.

His other passenger, a 62-year-old woman, was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with major injuries. Another passenger, a 77-year-old man, is recovering in Kaweah Delta Medical Center.

Crews transported Rosas to Adventist Medical Center in Hanford with unspecified injuries.

As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
