Carrie Mitchell Killed, Joseph Jebbia Arrested in Accident on North Freeway [Houston, TX]

Carrie Mitchell Struck and Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver Joseph Jebbia in Houston

 
HOUSTON, TX (August 21, 2024) – The Harris County Medical Examiner identified 61-year-old Carrie Mae Mitchell who died in an accident on North Freeway service road on August 7.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at West Road. Based on a report, the victim was waiting at a bus stop before the crash.
 
At the same time, 43-year-old Joseph Jebbia was fleeing law enforcement following an incident in Montgomery County. Deputies said Jebbia began to evade them, driving away at a high rate of speed. He then ran a red light at the intersection and struck a white Toyota Camry. Jebbia drove onto the curb and struck Mitchell at the bus stop.
 
After the initial crash, Jebbia kept going and hit the vehicle of the pursuing Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
 
As a result, Mitchell suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
The driver of the Camry and the deputy were not hurt.
 
Deputies later found and arrested Jebbia in the Willowbrook area.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
