Carolee Dwer Identified in Fatal Houston Hit-and-Run; Joshua Ivie Detained

 
HOUSTON, TX (September 5, 2023) – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office identified 44-year-old Carolee Dwer who died in a hit-and-run on Cypresswood Drive on August 27.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at West Cypress Forest Drive around 9:00 PM. Based on a report, Dwer was just visiting from out of state and it was her first day in the Houston area at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, a speeding Ford Explorer left the road and struck her. The driver then slammed into the corner of a house before leaving the scene on foot.
 
As a result, Dwer suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
Deputies found and arrested the Ford driver, 33-year-old Joshua Ivie of Spring. They charged him with failure to stop and render aid resulting in death, along with felon in possession of a weapon.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
