PHOENIX, AZ (February 12, 2024) — One person identified as 43-year-old Carlos Lopez-Chavez died in a hit-and-run on Saturday, February 3.
 
According to Phoenix police, they responded to the area of Cave Creek Road and Bell Road at about 7:30 p.m.
 
An initial investigation said Lopez-Chavez tried to cross Cave Creek Road mid-block when a car struck him.
 
When officers got to the scene, they found Lopez-Chavez with serious injuries. Then they pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
The vehicle that struck him had left the scene before officers arrived.
