Caleb Scott Killed in Gilbert Car Crash on Loop 202
GILBERT, AZ (January 13, 2025) — Authorities identified 20-year-old Caleb O’Neal Scott of Phoenix as the man killed in a car crash on Friday, January 3.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the incident occurred at about 10:30 p.m. on Loop 202 near Gilbert Road.
DPS said a white Infiniti passenger vehicle traveled in the westbound lanes of Loop 202 near Gilbert Road. Then the driver, a 19-year-old man from Surprise, lost control and struck a barrier wall.
After that, two passengers went out of the vehicle. They stood on the roadway when a silver Ford SUV struck them. It also caused the Ford to burst into flames.
O’Neal, who was one of those struck passengers, died at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics brought the other to a hospital with serious injuries.
The Infiniti driver also suffered minor injuries. Investigators believe the driver was under the influence at the time of the accident. Officials said there are pending charges.
DPS said the silver Ford SUV driver is not facing charges.
The investigation of the accident is still underway.
