Cal Poly Humboldt Student Camile Nuata Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Alliance Road in Arcata

 
ARCATA, CA (January 26, 2023) – Officers identified 21-year-old Cal Poly Humboldt student Camile Nuata as the victim in a fatal pedestrian accident on Alliance Road on January 17.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened shortly after 4:00 PM. Based on a report, the victim and another person were on the sidewalk at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, a blue truck traveling southbound on Alliance Road hit them. Subsequently, the vehicle reportedly veered back onto the street and hit another car before speeding away.
 
As a result, Nuata died in the incident.
 
The other pedestrian sustained a severe leg injury.
 
Police said the driver said he experienced a medical emergency at the time of the crash. As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
