Cyclist Dead after Edwards Hit-and-Run Accident on Highway 6
EDWARDS, CO (January 16, 2023) — A bicyclist died in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 6 while officers continue to look for the involved driver on Tuesday, January 9.
At around 2:30 p.m., the Colorado State Patrol received a notification from Eagle County Sheriff’s Office deputies. They found a body on an embankment on the side of the road near Highway 6 and milepost 165 near Edwards.
Troopers later determined the deceased died in a hit-and-run crash two days prior.
CSP said that the bicyclist was on Highway 6. Then another vehicle struck them. They believe the incident happened between the hours of midnight and 2 a.m. on Sunday, January 7.
According to CSP, the person who allegedly struck the bicyclist left the scene and is currently at large. In addition, troopers said they were not able to find the victim’s bike at the scene. They believe somebody took it.
Lastly, troopers believe the involved vehicle is a white 2010-2012 white Subaru Legacy or Outback with front passenger side damage.
