PHOENIX, AZ (January 16, 2024) — A woman died and a man suffered injuries in a pedestrian accident on 44th Street on Wednesday, January 10.
 
According to the Phoenix Police Department, first responders got the call about the crash near 44th Street and Osborn Road shortly before 6:40 p.m.
 
Officers arrived at the scene and discovered a man and woman on the ground. Both received treatment at the scene. Then paramedics brought them to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.
 
The woman later died, police said. The man is still in recovery.
 
Authorities believe the two victims tried to cross 44th Street when a vehicle struck them. However, it’s not yet known if the two were on a crosswalk.
 
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and did not show any signs of intoxication.
