Bicyclist Killed in Garbage Truck Accident on Warm Springs Road and Parkson Road

 
HENDERSON, NV (September 19, 2024) — A 23-year-old bicyclist died after a garbage truck crash on Warm Springs Road on Thursday, September 12.
 
According to Henderson Police, the accident occurred at the intersection of Warm Springs Road and Parkson Road at around 4:41 p.m.
 
The initial police investigation determined a garbage dumpster truck traveled eastbound on Warm Springs Road. At the same time, the bicyclist riding an electric hybrid red and black bicycle also moved eastbound on Warm Springs Road in the bicycle lane.
 
Due to construction within the area, officials closed the bicycle lane with barricades as well as posted signs. However, the bicyclist continued eastbound. It tried to squeeze between a barricade barrel and the garbage dumpster truck.
 
The front tire of the bicycle rolled onto the barricade base, causing the bicyclist to fall over and into the path of the dumpster truck. The rear tires of the dumpster truck ran over the bicyclist, police stated.
 
Emergency responders brought the bicyclist to the hospital in serious condition. Then medical personnel later pronounced him dead.
