Ashley Hernandez Dead in Martin County Car Accident Involving Drowsy Driver

 
MARTIN COUNTY, TX (September 21, 2022) – Police identified 23-year-old Ashley Hernandez who died in a drowsy driving accident on 20 Freeway on September 11.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at approximately 2:33 PM.
 
Based on a report, a 2006 Toyota Tacoma was traveling west on the freeway at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, the driver fell asleep while traveling at highway speeds. Subsequently, the truck partially crossed into the center median.
 
Then, Hernandez over-corrected back onto the roadway, causing the truck to roll over multiple times.
 
Hernandez died after being transported to Martin County Hospital.
 
A 3-year-old was transported to Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock in serious condition.
 
Hernandez was wearing a seatbelt, according to DPS. The 3-year-old was not, according to the report
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, there are no other details available.
