Joe Harwell Killed after Tucson Motorcycle Accident

 
TUCSON, AZ (September 2, 2024) — A 59-year-old man identified as Joe Don Harwell died in a motorcycle accident on Wednesday, August 21.
 
According to the Tucson Police Department, the two-vehicle crash occurred at Valencia Road and Tucson Boulevard at about 12:00 a.m.
 
The TPD said Harwell rode a black 2023 Harley-Davidson motorcycle east on East Valencia Road. Then he crashed into a vehicle making a left turn onto South Tucson Boulevard.
 
Responding officers pronounced Harwell dead at the scene.
 
The driver of the other vehicle, an unidentified 18-year-old man, remained at the scene. He cooperated with the investigation and was not under the influence.
 
Harwell did not wear a helmet, but did have a proper motorcycle endorsement.
 
Investigators are still determining the phase of the lights at the intersection when the accident happened. The investigation is still underway.
