John McLean Killed, Michael Creel Arrested in Tucson Car Crash

 
TUCSON, AZ (December 1, 2024) — Arizona State Senate candidate John McLean died in a crash on Friday, November 15.
 
According to the Tucson Police, McLean drove his 2019 Toyota Rav4 east on Broadway Boulevard. Then a 2018 Ford Explorer driving north on North Ridgeside Drive hit his vehicle.
 
The other driver identified as 27-year-old Michael Martin Creel, allegedly failed to stop at the stop sign.
 
Creel allegedly hit the passenger side of McLean’s vehicle as it went through the intersection.
 
Responding officers pronounced McLean dead at the scene. Creel did not sustain serious injuries.
 
Tucson Police later found out that Creel was under the influence at the time of the accident. They arrested him on suspicion of manslaughter and aggravated DUI.
 
Arizona State Democrats extended their condolences to John’s family via post on social media.
 
McLean ran for District 17 State Senate in this year’s election.
 
Officials continue to investigate the incident.
