Ari Quiroz-Jimenez, Austin Tsai, and Bugeon Kim Dead in Wrong-Way Collision on 90 Freeway

 
MERCER ISLAND, WA (November 30, 2023) — 30-year-old Ari N. Quiroz-Jimenez and two others died after a wrong-way crash on Monday, October 30.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened around midnight on the eastbound 90 Freeway near Island Crest Way.
 
Reports said a trooper traveled east on the 90 freeway, approaching East Mercer. Then they saw a vehicle moving toward them traveling the wrong way.
 
After that, the trooper took an exit to try to parallel the wrong way while other troopers searched for the vehicle. Then they came upon the head-on crash.
 
The trooper discovered one of the vehicles on fire and put out the flames.
 
Troopers said all people from both vehicles died at the scene. They identified Quiroz-Jimenez as the wrong-way driver. They also identified the occupants of the second vehicle as 22-year-old Austin C. Tsai, of Bellevue, and 23-year-old Bugeon Kim, from Berkeley, California.
 
Officers closed all eastbound lanes of the freeway. They reopened it by 5:30 a.m.
 
Eastside Fire & Rescue and Mercer Island, Seattle and Bellevue fire departments also responded to the area.
