Arcely Echeverria, Jordan Gomez Identified in Fatal West Covina Crash, Michael Maya Arrested for DUI

 
WEST COVINA, CA (December 8, 2022) – Police identified 24-year-old Arcely Echeverria of La Puente and 31-year-old Jordan Gomez of Azusa as the victims who died in a crash on Grand Avenue on December 3.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just south of Virginia Avenue around 7:30 AM.
 
Based on a report, the victims were passengers in an Acura RSX that was speeding south on Grand prior to the crash. As the driver turned to the right for some reason, it went directly into parked cars.
 
As a result, Echeverria, who was sitting in the back seat of the Acura, died at the scene. Jordan, who sitting in the front passenger seat, died at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center.
 
The driver, 26-year-old Michael Maya, of Covina suffered moderate injuries. In addition, another woman in the back seat suffered minor injuries.
 
The CHP arrested Maya on suspicion of driving under the influence and causing injury. At this point, officers continue to investigate the case.
