Araceli Juarez Dies in Merced Car Crash on Santa Fe Drive and Avenue Two

 
MERCED, CA (December 1, 2022) — Araceli Juarez died after a car accident on Santa Fe Drive and Avenue Two on Tuesday afternoon, November 15.

The fatal collision occurred at around 5:17 p.m. near Atwater, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities said 52-year-old Juarez of Winton drove a 2015 Nissan Sedan eastbound on Avenue Two when she attempted a left turn onto Santa Fe Drive. Her vehicle then went into the direct path of a southbound 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser, operated by 39-year-old Antonio Rojas.

The force of the impact sent the Nissan towards a 2018 BMW driven by 26-year-old Rayanne Jawad, who made an attempt to turn from Santa Fe Drive onto Avenue Two.

Juarez died at the scene.

Meanwhile, both Rojas and Jawad emerged from the incident unharmed.

The two drivers involved cooperated with investigators. Authorities said that the influence of alcohol and drugs did not appear as a factor in the crash.
