Suspected DUI Driver Anthony Tate Involved in Fatal Las Vegas Accident
LAS VEGAS, NV (July 26, 2024) – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrested 44-year-old Anthony Tate following a fatal bicycle accident on Nellis Boulevard on July 2.
According to the Nevada State Police, the collision happened at Desert Inn Road around 11:47 PM. Based on a report, a 59-year-old Las Vegas man was riding a bicycle north in the southbound lanes of the road before the crash.
He then crossed the center median and entered the northbound lanes, where he traveled into the path of an approaching Tate’s 1997 Dodge Dakota. Subsequently, the Dodge hit the rear of the bike and knocked the man into the southbound side of the street. A 2010 Chrysler 300C Touring heading south then struck the victim.
As a result, the man suffered grave injuries in the incident. Medical personnel took him to Sunrise Hospital, where he died. Officials did not release his name, pending kin notification.
Police arrested Tate on suspicion of DUI after showing signs of impairment. The driver of the Chrysler did not show any signs of impairment.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
