Jonathan Sanchez Detained, Anthony Rodriguez Hurt after Ceres Hit-and-Run

CERES, CA (November 16, 2022)Anthony Rodriguez was injured while Jonathan Sanchez was arrested in a hit-and-run on Service Road and Pioneer Road on Saturday evening, November 12.

The collision happened at around 7:17 p.m. involving a 2014 Nissan sedan and a 2015 Chevrolet pickup, according to the CHP.

Authorities said the Nissan, driven by the 26-year-old Rodriguez, headed south on Pioneer Avenue where he came to a halt at the stop sign.

The Chevrolet, operated by the 19-year-old Sanchez who traveled east on Service Road, then collided into the Nissan. The collision happened after he failed to stop at the intersection, despite a stop sign being in place.

The force of impact ejected Rodriguez, who suffered major injuries. Respondents rushed him to the Memorial Medical Center’s trauma center.

Meanwhile, Sanchez ran from the collision site before appearing at the Ceres Police Department, where he made a false report about his Chevrolet being stolen.

Upon interrogation, CHP determined the truth behind the incident and arrested Sanchez. Officials booked him into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for felony hit-and-run.

Officials stated that the influence of alcohol and/or drugs did not appear as a factor.

No other information is available at this time. The case is still under investigation.
