Angel Barraza-Karnes identified in Fatal Crash on 10 Freeway at Geronimo Drive in El Paso

 
EL PASO, TX (January 12, 2023) – The El Paso Police Department identified 23-year-old Angel Barraza-Karnes of El Paso as the victim who died in a crash on 10 Freeway on January 8.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Geronimo Drive. Based on a report, Barraza was driving a red Ford Mustang along the freeway prior to the crash.
 
Police said he was possibly racing with a black Dodge Charger at a high speed when he lost control of his car. Subsequently, the Mustang hit a trailer from behind and then continued along the highway where the car hit a curb and road sign, ejecting him to the roadway.
 
As a result, Barraza died at the scene due to severe injuries.
 
Emergency crews transported another victim to a hospital for treatment.
