Amanda Schneider Identified in Fatal DUI Crash in Seattle

SEATTLE, WA (November 26, 2023) – A coroner identified 28-year-old Amanda Schneider who died in a DUI crash on 5th Avenue on November 4.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at Battery Street. Based on a report, 31-year-old Adam Abelson was driving a red Saturn at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash.

Due to unknown reasons, the suspect sped through that red light, clipped a vehicle, and rammed into a King County Metro bus. The bus then slammed into a building and hit Schneider. A Tesla dashcam captured the aftermath of people running for their lives and glass exploding everywhere.

As a result, Schneider suffered grave injuries and died in the incident.

Crews on the scene found a pipe, lighter, and aluminum foil in the front seat of Abelson’s vehicle. Officers arrested him for DUI with a bail set for $3,000,000.

Prosecutors say Abelson has an extensive record. Before the crash, he had five active warrants for his arrests and had been convicted of theft multiple times.

At this point, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
