Alondra Rojas Dead, Cassandra Hernandez Arrested in El Paso DUI Crash

 
 EL PASO, TX (August 29, 2023) — A 40-year-old San Elizario resident identified as Alondra Soriano Rojas died in a DUI accident on Saturday, August 26.
 
According to El Paso Police, the crash took place at Loop 375 East and Zaragoza Road just before 1:00 a.m.
 
Police say that 26-year-old Cassandra Yolanda Hernandez, of El Paso, traveled east along Loop 375 at a high rate of speed. She followed behind a second vehicle.
 
Hernandez then rear-ended the second car. The impact caused that other vehicle to strike a guard rail. It overturned and then collided with a metal pole.
 
Rojas, who was a passenger in the second vehicle, died at the scene.
 
Paramedics transported the driver of the second vehicle, 37-year-old Dulce Rivera Soriano, and another passenger, 34-year-old Paloma Soriano, to the hospital. Police said both of them sustained minor injuries.
 
After the collision, Hernandez’s vehicle spun out and subsequently caught fire.
 
Police suspect that Hernandez was under the influence when the crash happened. They charged her with intoxication manslaughter and booked her into El Paso County Jail.
 
Police believe alcohol and speed contributed as factors in the incident.
