Alfred Diaz Fatally Struck in Tucson Pedestrian Accident

 
TUCSON, AZ (November 13, 2024) — A 68-year-old man identified as Alfred T. Diaz died in a pedestrian accident on Tuesday, October 22.
 
According to the Tucson Police Department, the pedestrian collision happened shortly before 11:00 p.m. on the 10000 block of East Irvington Road near Houghton Road.
 
TPD said the initial investigation determined that Diaz was in the eastbound lane of Irvington Road. Then a Honda CR-V struck him.
 
First responders brought Diaz to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died a week later on October 29, according to the Office of the Medical Examiner.
 
The driver of the involved vehicle, only described as a 66-year-old man, was not hurt in the incident. Reports said he immediately stopped, and he also cooperated with investigators. He was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
 
Investigators are still determining whether Diaz walked in the roadway or tried to cross the street. They said he was not near a crosswalk and there was no lighting in the area where the incident occurred.
 
Tucson Police said the investigation of the incident is still underway.
