Aaron Rattler Dies after Jacobe Johnson Evades Arrest, Crashes Car in Jones County
JONES COUNTY, TX (May 10, 2023) – Troopers identified 27-year-old Aaron Earl Rattler of Garland after he died in a high-speed crash on Highway 277 on May 3.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at approximately 6:56 AM. Based on a report, Rattler was a passenger in a car that was fleeing from the authorities at the time of the crash.
DPS said 22-year-old Jacobe Jabar Johnson of Arlington refused to stop and sped away from a trooper on 20 Freeway. Then, a pursuit started and continued on multiple roadways and continued into Jones County for several miles. Troopers deployed spike systems and the suspect tried to avoid the spikes and crashed into two vehicles.
As a result, Rattler suffered grave injuries and died in the incident.
Emergency crews took the drivers of the two vehicles to a local hospital with various injuries.
Authorities arrested and charged Johnson with evading arrest or detention in a vehicle, a felony.
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available at this time.
