Beverly Gearhiser Killed in Pullman Accident on Airport Road
PULLMAN, WA (December 12, 2024) — A 94-year-old Pullman woman, Beverly P. Gearhiser, died in a crash on Tuesday, December 3.
According to a Washington State Patrol, the accident happened at about 3:00 p.m. near Airport Road on Highway 270 near the Idaho border.
WSP said Gearhiser drove a 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser and was pulling out of Garrison Road onto westbound Highway 270. Then an eastbound 2009 Toyota RAV4 driven by 34-year-old Courtney A. Midea, of Red Rock, Arizona, struck her vehicle.
Gearhiser sustained fatal injuries in the crash and died.
Meanwhile, the Toyota driver and passenger, 84-year-old Richard E. Tavis, of Pullman, did not suffer any injuries.
Officials said all three people involved wore seatbelts. They also determined the cause of the crash as failure to yield.
Pullman Firefighters said in a social media post that they closed westbound traffic on the highway into the evening. In addition, they reduced eastbound traffic to one lane. The highway fully reopened to traffic on Tuesday evening.
