Two Vehicles Involved in Fatal Wrong-Way Crash on Ajo Highway in Tucson

 
TUCSON, AZ (October 31, 2023) – The Tucson Police Department confirmed the death of a 9-year-old boy in a wrong-way crash on Ajo Highway on October 20.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near Milepost 161 at approximately 7:39 PM. Based on a report, a driver was traveling the wrong way on the highway prior to the crash.
 
Subsequently, it crashed into another vehicle.
 
As of now, the boy who was riding in the second vehicle sustained grave injuries and died in the incident. Officials did not yet release the victim’s name, pending kin notification.
 
The wrong-way driver was carrying three occupants. Crews took the victims to the hospital along with an adult and another juvenile in the second car. All occupants sustained life-threatening injuries.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
