88-Year-Old Yolanda Cruz Identified in Fatal Crash on 17 Freeway at Bethany Home Road in Phoenix
PHOENIX, AZ (September 12, 2023) – The Phoenix Police Department identified 88-year-old Yolanda Cruz who died in a hit-and-run crash on 17 Freeway on August 30.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Bethany Home Road around 9:30 PM.
Based on a report, a teen driver rear-ended a Honda with his GMC pickup truck. The Honda lost control and two other cars struck it. A fourth car then crashed into a concrete wall. Subsequently, the pickup driver then sped off from the scene.
As a result, Cruz suffered grave injuries and died from her injuries. He was a passenger in the Honda.
It was not yet how many other people were hurt.
Officers later located the teen driver of the pickup.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
