Gerald Saltzman Struck and Killed by Vehicle in Bellingham
BELLINGHAM, WA (November 1, 2023) – Officials identified 85-year-old Gerald Saltzman who died in a pedestrian accident in the 100 block of North Samish Way on October 22.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at around 8:47 PM. Based on a report, Saltzman was walking across the street outside a crosswalk at the time of the crash.
Officers said the area was dark. Subsequently, a vehicle struck him in the lanes.
As a result, Saltzman suffered grave injuries in the incident. Bellingham Fire Department medics transported him to the emergency room at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, where he later died.
The driver of the vehicle stopped the car and remained at the scene.
There was no evidence to suggest alcohol, drugs or speeding were contributing factors to the collision. At this point, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
