81-Year-Old Mary Phister Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Herndon Avenue [Fresno County, CA]

Mary Phister Struck and Killed on Herndon Avenue at Del Rey Avenue in Fresno County

 
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (January 9, 2022) – The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified 81-year-old Mary Phister of Clovis as the victim who died in a pedestrian accident on Herndon Avenue on January 3.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Del Rey Avenue around 5:30 PM.
 
Based on a report, a vehicle struck the pedestrian in the lanes. When officers arrived at the scene, they learned Phister possibly walked directly into the path of the car. Officials stated she was wearing dark clothes at that time of the accident.
 
As a result, Phister suffered critical injuries in the incident. She was transported to the hospital, where she later died.
 
Police did not believe the driver to be under the influence.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
