SPANAWAY, WA (November 19, 2024) — A 79-year-old woman died in a pedestrian accident on Mountain Highway East on Wednesday, November 6.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened at around 5:46 a.m. near 20307 Mountain Highway East.
 
WSP said the Spanaway woman was crossing the road from west to east. Then a vehicle moving north struck her.
 
Reports confirmed that the elderly woman died due to the injuries sustained in the incident. Her identity was not immediately available, pending notification of loved ones.
 
Authorities said the involved driver was a 32-year-old woman from Graham who they allowed to leave the scene.
 
Officers do not suspect drugs or alcohol as contributing factors to the incident.
 
The investigation of the accident is still underway.
