Canadian Marietta Portigal Struck and Killed by Vehicle on 90 Freeway in Liberty Lake

 
LIBERTY LAKE, WA (June 19, 2023) – Officials identified 78-year-old Marietta Portigal of Alberta, Canada who died in a pedestrian accident on 90 Freeway on June 6.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened shortly before 10:00 AM. Based on a report, Portigal ran out of gas on the side of the freeway prior to the crash.
 
She was crossing the eastbound lanes of the freeway in an attempt to go to the nearby WSP Port of Entry for help. Due to unknown reasons, a man driving an estimated 60 mph hit her in the left lane.
 
As a result, Portigal sustained grave injuries in the incident. Emergency crews took her to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, where she later died.
 
At this point, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
