Bicyclist John Timbers Struck and Killed by Hit-and-Run Vehicle in Tucson

 
TUCSON, AZ (October 30, 2023) – The Tucson Police Department identified 78-year-old John Clayton Timbers who died in a bicycle accident on Grant Road on October 17.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Craycroft Road around 5:00 AM. Based on a report, Timbers was riding his bicycle on Grant Road at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, a vehicle struck him from behind. The driver then fled the scene without giving aid to the victim.
 
As a result, Timbers sustained grave injuries and died at the scene. According to AZ Cycling, Timbers was a beloved member of the cycling community.
 
Detectives believe the vehicle was a red 2000s Nissan Frontier or Xterra. As of now, they ask anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
