74-Year-Old James Pinkerton Identified in Fatal Crash on Highway 79 in Rusk County
RUSK COUNTY, TX (December 13, 2023) – Officials identified 74-year-old James Pinkerton of Henderson who died in a crash on Highway 79 on December 1.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Pinkerton was traveling southwest on Highway 79 behind a 2014 Western Star truck tractor towing a trailer.
As the tractor was making a U-turn, part of the load was still in the southwest lanes of the highway. At that point, Pinkerton struck the load, causing him to travel off the roadway and strike a culvert.
As a result, Pinkerton suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
His passenger, 79-year-old Charles Hebert of Alvin, was taken to a local hospital for his injuries.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not hurt in the incident.
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
