Deidree Markin Struck and Killed by Drunk Driver on East Speedway in Tucson
TUCSON, AZ (October 11, 2023) – The Tucson Police Department identified 70-year-old Deidree Ann Markin who died in a pedestrian accident on East Speedway on October 5.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at North Dodge Boulevard around 6:20 AM. Based on a report, Markin was using a marked crosswalk with a High Intensity Activated CrossWalk (HAWK) signal activated at the of the crash.
Due to unknown reasons, a westbound black 2003 Nissan Pathfinder struck her.
As a result, Markin sustained grave injuries and died in the incident.
An officer from the Tucson Police Department’s Impaired Driver Enforcement Unit evaluated the Nissan driver and determined failure to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk and impaired driving as the major contributing factors in the collision.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
