70-Year-Old Christopher Martin, 19-Year-Old Karlye Bayer Injured in Accident on FM 1004 [Buna, TX]

BUNA, TX (March 13, 2023) – DPS identified 70-year-old Christopher Martin and 19-year-old Karlye Bayer as the victims who suffered injuries in an accident on FM 1004 on March 8.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near Antioch Cemetery at approximately 9:30 AM. Based on a report, Martin, a Silsbee resident, was driving a Ford pickup truck pulling a lowboy trailer prior to the crash.
 
Subsequently, he stopped the truck to unload trash cans from the trailer. At that point, 79-year-old Vance Hill side-swiped both the lowboy trailer and the Ford truck with his Toyota Tacoma truck.
 
Lastly, the entire bed of the Ford truck was completely torn off and flew into the opposite lane of traffic. There, Bayer’s Dodge car hit it.
 
As a result, Martin and Bayer were hurt in the incident. Both were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation.
