7-Year-Old Leilani Flores Identified in Fatal Vehicle and Bicycle Accident in Tucson

 
TUCSON, AZ (March 5, 2024) – The Tucson Police Department identified 7-year-old Leilani Flores who died in a bicycle accident in the 1655 block of West Ajo Way on February 23.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened just before 5:30 PM. Based on a report, Flores was riding her bike with another girl before the incident.
 
Police said both girls were wearing helmets and were riding on the wrong side of the road. At the same time, a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe was making a left turn to go southbound. Due to unknown reasons, the vehicle hit Flores.
 
As a result, Flores suffered grave injuries in the crash. Emergency crews transported her to Banner University Medical Center, where she later died.
 
The other bicyclist had minor injuries.
 
Officers said the driver of the Chevy stayed and was not impaired.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
