KENT, WA (November 14, 2024) – Authorities reported 45 cars involved in a crash that closed 5 Freeway on October 27.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at Highway 516. Based on a report, the pile-up fully shut down the freeway for hours, causing a miles-long backup.
 
Emergency crews called in 18 tow trucks to help clear the crash sites that stretched the backup to five miles long and growing. Road crews had to bring in sand to clean up oil and gas spills from the many cars involved.
 
As a result, a few people sustained injuries in the incident. Paramedics transported the victims to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
