20-Year-Old Ashlyn Stroud Killed, McArthur Jackson Charged in Crash on Highway 9 [Skagit County, WA]

Ashlyn Stroud Identified in Fatal DUI Crash in Skagit County

 
GRANT COUNTY, WA (December 13, 2023) – Officials identified 20-year-old Ashlyn Stroud of Arlington who died in a DUI crash on Highway 9 on December 1.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near Sedro-Woolley. Based on a report, Stroud was heading south on the highway at the time of the crash.
 
At that point, a car heading in the opposite direction crossed the center line. Subsequently, the two cars collided head-on, sending Stroud’s car off the road.
 
As a result, Stroud suffered grave injuries in the incident. Emergency crews transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center, where she later died.
 
The driver of the other car, 56-year-old McArthur Jackson of Oak Harbor, was hurt. Crews also took him to Providence Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
 
Jackson was under the influence at the time of the crash. He faces DUI and vehicular assault charges.
 
Stroud’s family has set up a GoFundMe to honor her memory.
