Pedestrian Fatally Struck by 19-Year-Old Driver, Leo Pinero, on Pleasanton Road in San Antonio

 
SAN ANTONIO, TX (January 22, 2025) San Antonio Police arrested 19-year-old Leo Pinero following a fatal pedestrian accident on Pleasanton Road on January 14.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened around 12:15 AM. Based on a report, Covert detectives were conducting a narcotics investigation on Pinero who was believed to have a large amount of narcotics at a location on the South Side.
 
Police units attempted to pull his vehicle on Pyron Avenue but he did not stop. Subsequently, he drove away at a high rate of speed and traveled toward Pleasanton Road where he crashed into a guardrail and hit a woman on a nearby sidewalk.
 
As a result, the victim suffered serious injuries and died in the incident. Authorities did not release her name, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Police said Pinero then attempted to flee on foot but they were able to apprehend him. They charged him with murder and evading arrest.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
