Man Dead, Another Injured Car Accident near Benson Highway
TUCSON, AZ (January 23, 2025) — A man suffered fatal injuries in a car accident near Benson Highway on Tuesday, January 14.
According to the Tucson Police Department, the incident happened around 6:15 p.m. near Benson Highway and Ajo Way.
Tucson Police said a pickup truck driven by a 51-year-old man ran a red light while traveling at high speed. Then it collided with a passenger car.
The truck’s driver died at the scene. Meanwhile, the 39-year-old driver of the car sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening. Their identities were not immediately available.
Investigators reported that the pickup truck driver had an odor of alcohol. In addition, they also found empty alcoholic beverage containers, believed to have come from the truck.
Officials have not yet confirmed impairment as a factor in the accident.
The Tucson Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
