Jade Pedro Identified in Fatal Crash on 40th Street in Phoenix

 
PHOENIX, AZ (October 26, 2023) – The Phoenix Police Department identified 19-year-old Jade Pedro who died in a crash on 40th Street on October 16.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at 202 Freeway at approximately 7:00 PM. Based on a report, rescue crews found a white passenger vehicle and a gray SUV in a landscaping area just off the intersection.
 
Detectives said the SUV ran a red light while heading eastbound on the 202 Freeway access road. It then collided with the passenger car that was heading northbound on 40th Street.
 
As a result, Pedro and two other occupants of the white vehicle sustained injuries in the crash. Crews transported them to the hospital, where Pedro died.
 
The driver of the passenger car was in critical condition. Crews treated and released the third occupant of the passenger car and the driver of the SUV.
 
Impairment appeared to be a factor involving the driver of the SUV.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
