TULARE COUNTY, CA (August 15, 2022) — An 18-year-old male teenager was killed after being struck by a vehicle in a crash on Highway 198 on Tuesday morning, August 9.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision took place at about 4:00 a.m. on Highway 198 at Road 182, just east of Visalia.

Investigations indicated that a 51-year-old female driver of Visalia was traveling on Road 198, where the teenager was standing in the fast lane for unknown reasons.

The woman did not respond in time to evade the man. As a result, she hit the teen.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the female driver sustained minor injuries. No update was reported on whether she received treatment at a hospital or not.

The circumstances and factors surrounding the incident also remain unavailable as detectives remained in the thick of investigation.

Authorities closed off one southbound lane of Highway 198 for about three hours because of the crash.
