Stolen Car Involved in Crash on Highway 167 in Kent
KENT, WA (August 26, 2024) – Authorities arrested a 18-year-old man following a stolen car crash on Highway 167 on August 8.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at South 277th Street around 1:00 AM. Based on a report, the suspect was driving a stolen car with three other young passengers, ages 12 to 14.
A police officer tried to pull over the stolen Nissan near Central Avenue but the driver took off. The action of the suspect made Kent police authorize a pursuit. The driver then blew through a red light on the highway and crashed head-on into a Mini Cooper making a left turn. At least one of the vehicles caught fire in the incident.
As a result, the stolen car driver and the car’s passenger sustained injuries in the crash. The driver of the Nissan was also hurt.
Kent police later arrested and booked the driver of the stolen car into jail.
