18-Year-Old Lucia Rivera Involved in Reckless Driving Crash on FM 777 in Jasper

 
JASPER, TX (February 21, 2023) – Officers confirmed that 18-year-old Lucia Rivera received a citation after a crash on FM 777 on February 16.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened in the Seed Tick area shortly before 7:00 AM.
 
Based on a report, Rivera was driving a car northbound on the road prior to the crash. Due to her inattention, she failed to drive in a single lane and traveled into the north ditch, where she struck a tree.
 
As a result, her 6-year-old passenger was hurt in the crash. Beech Grove firefighters & First Responders arrived and transported the victim by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital. Rivera was not hurt in the incident.
 
Sergeant Clark cited Rivera for Failure to Properly Secure a Child in a Safety Seat.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation.
