17-Year-Old Jessie Uch Killed in DUI Accident on Rainier Road at 138th Avenue [Rainier, WA]

Passenger Jessie Uch Identified in Fatal Rainier Accident

 
RAINIER, WA (March 9, 2023) – The Thurston County Sheriff’s deputies identified 17-year-old Jessie Uch as the victim who died in a DUI accident on Rainier Road on March 4.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at 138th Avenue around 5:45 PM. Based on a report, Uch was a passenger of a car traveling northbound on Rainier Road at the time of the crash.
 
Deputies said that the car driver – an 18-year-old teen – lost control in a curve and swerved over the oncoming lane. At that point, a southbound vehicle struck the car on the passenger side.
 
As a result, Uch suffered severe injuries and died in the incident. She was a student at Rainier High School.
 
Crews took the teen driver to Providence St. Peter Hospital, then to Harborview for treatment of serious injuries. The driver in the other car, a 24-year-old woman, was taken to Providence with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
A friend set up a GoFundMe to help lay Uch to rest.
 
Police determined the teen driver to be under the influence.
 
At this point, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
