17-Year-Old Struck and Seriously Injured by Vehicle on East Desert Inn Road in Las Vegas

 
LAS VEGAS, NV (June 6, 2024) – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that a 17-year-old boy suffered serious injuries in a pedestrian accident on East Desert Inn Road on May 27.
 
According to the Nevada State Police, the collision happened at La Canada Street around 8:06 AM. Based on a report, the boy was crossing northbound Desert Inn Road on roller skates in a marked crosswalk on a protected signal.
 
As he reached the center median, the east and west signals cycled went green and a 2023 Polaris Slingshot going westbound on Desert Inn Road hit him. Police said the boy continued into westbound traffic against the signal when the accident occurred. The crash impact redirected the boy to the west and onto the road.
 
As a result, the boy suffered critical injuries in the incident. Crews transported him to UMC Hospital for further treatment.
 
The driver of the Polaris remained at the scene and did not display any signs of impairment.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
