17-Year-Old Passenger Dead in Single-Car Crash in El Paso

 
EL PASO, TX (February 3, 2023) El Paso Police confirmed that a 17-year-old male died in a fiery car crash in the 11700 block of Pebble Hills Boulevard on January 28.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened shortly before 11:00 PM. Based on a report, a 14-year-old driver was speeding and lost control of the car.
 
Subsequently, the vehicle hit a boulder in the center median which caused the car to roll over and hit a light pole. The car came to a rest on its roof while burning.
 
As a result, police said the 17-year-old male passenger died inside the car.
 
Officers with the Special Traffic Investigations Unit said a 14-year-old male driver and a 13-year-old female back passenger were able to get out of the burning car and left the scene. Officers later located them at a hotel.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
