Talha Abdel-Rahman Identified in Fatal Phoenix Crash on 40th Street
PHOENIX, AZ (March 5, 2024) – The Phoenix Police Department identified 16-year-old Talha Abdel-Rahman who died in a fiery crash on 40th Street on February 24.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Baseline Road around 2:50 PM. Based on a report, Abdel-Rahman was going west on Baseline Road at a high rate of speed.
Due to unknown reasons, the victim failed to stop at a red light and crashed into a light pole. The car then caught fire. A second vehicle was also involved in the incident.
As a result, Abdel-Rahman suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
Two people, including a child, in the second car were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Police said speed was a factor in the crash.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
