Richard Harding Airlifted after Suspected DUI in Ellensburg Crash on Vantage Highway
ELLENSBURG, WA (November 3, 2022) – Police suspected 57-year-old Richard Harding of DUI following a serious crash on Vantage Highway on October 29.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at approximately 7:00 PM. Based on a report, Harding was driving eastbound on Vantage prior to the crash.
Due to unknown reasons, the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office said Harding drifted over the centerline and crashed head-on into a Ford pickup truck driven by a 16-year-old girl.
The teen driver of the pickup received multiple compound leg fractures and deputies applied a tourniquet to slow her bleeding before she was taken to a hospital.
Harding, who is expected to recover, was also airlifted away due to his injuries.
Deputies suspected Harding of intoxication and issued a warrant for his blood sample. They said he could face felony vehicular assault charges if a lab analysis confirms he was under the influence.
As of now, an investigation is ongoing.
