14-Year-Old Joseph Gavin Identified in Fatal Solo-Car Crash in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (February 9, 2023) – The San Jose Police Department identified 14-year-old Joseph Gavin as the victim who died in a stolen car crash on Cottle Road on January 27.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Blossom Hill Road around 4:20 AM. Based on a report, Gavin and a girl were passengers of a juvenile who was driving a stolen Hyundai sedan at high speeds on Cottle prior to the crash.
 
Subsequently, officers said the car crashed into a light pole on the southeast corner of the on-ramp to Blossom Hill. The crash caused the car to burst into flames.
 
As a result, Gavin and the girl died in the incident.
 
Officers said the driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Officers arrested and booked the driver in Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for driving a stolen vehicle and two counts of vehicular manslaughter.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
